COME AND WORSHIP JESUS CHRIST

ILLOGICAL TO THE FOOLISH

1. Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself (Pro.26:4)(NIV).

2. As for me, far from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you (ISam.12:23).

3. "If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also" (Mat. 5:39)

4. Out of the same mouth come praise and curse. My brothers, this should not be (James 3:10).

5. "Preach the Word: be prepared in season and out of season" (2 Tim. 4:2)

1. Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes (Pro.26:5)

2. "Do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; Do not plead with Me, for I will not listen to you""(Jer. 7:16)

3. When Jesus said this, one of the officials nearby struck Him in the face. "If I said something wrong", Jesus replied, "testify as to what is wrong. But if I spoke the truth, why did you strike Me?" (John 18:22,23).

4. Peter answered: "May your money perish with you" (Act 8:20). Paul filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, " You are a child of the devil and enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind and for a time you will be unable to see the light of the sun" (Acts 13:10,11)

5. "Having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia" (Act 16:6)

On hearing about a newly built church, three persons went together to see it. One of them was a fool, another was a man without wisdom but considered himself wise and the third one was indeed a wise man. All the three persons met someone on the way and inquired the way to the church. He told them to go straight and take the road going right. The three followed his direction and walked along the road going to its right but could not locate the church. Then they met another passerby and inquired him of the way to the church. He advised them to walk straight ahead a little further and take the road going left to reach the church. The fool was perplexed and annoyed and told others: "What is this! One person asks us to go right and another asks us to go left. Both are fools. I am not going to accompany you". So saying, he went back the way he came. Ignoring the fool, the other two continued on their way. After a while, they saw a road going left. The wise man advised his companion who falsely considered himself wise to take that road. But he rebuffed the advice of the wise man saying, "Didn't the passerby advise us to go straight? Why are you looking back? I will go straight only". So saying he left, only partially accepting the advice of the guide.

In the above manner, at different times, many godly men have recorded in the Scriptures by the same Spirit, the way to the eternal home. The dull-headed persons who could not understand this forget that the Scriptures are written by the omniscient Spirit of God and think that the Scriptures are illogical! Such people are like the Sadducees who denied resurrection not knowing the Scriptures (Mat. 22:29). Though considering themselves wise, with their half-baked knowledge, they hold on to only one side of the issue unwilling to consider the other side. The Lord shut the mouths of such half-baked persons by showing the verse, "I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob" (Mat.22:31). About the Messiah, those who claimed to be great Scriptural scholars knew only that He would come from Bethlehem (Mat.2:6). But not knowing the Scriptures, "He will be called a Nazarene" (Mat.2:23), they assumed that no prophet would come from the Nazareth of Galilee" (John 7:52) and thus they refused to accept Jesus as the Messiah. While Jesus had fulfilled the prophesies by His birth in Bethlehem and growing up in Nazareth, the Pharisees who thought highly of their own knowledge were unwilling to accept this, held the Lord guilty. There are many similar Christians who call themselves religious but do not have clarity in Scriptures. The man who has a double-edged sword can wound enemies on both the sides. The word of God is sharper than any double edged sword (Heb.4:12).

Compare the actions of the fool and the feigned wise man against the diligent actions of the truly wise man! God had told the Israelites: "You must not intermarry with foreign women" (I King 11:2). The reason for saying this is "for surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods" (I King 11:2). Therefore the Israelites were careful not to mingle with gentiles in any way. But God had never prohibited any foreigner from believing and accepting the Lord. The time came when even the gentiles accepted the Lord. The Holy Spirit led Peter to approach the gentiles. The aim was not to make Peter follow their gods but only to make them follow his God. Peter's act of approaching the gentiles was viewed by many to be contrary to the above Scripture (Act 11:3). Peter explained to them that the Spirit of God led him that way and asked them "Who was I to think that I could oppose God?" (Act 11:17). The Scriptures were then analyzed. They were happy to find that God grants salvation to the gentiles too in accordance with the Scriptures (Acts 15:12-18).

One should understand the purpose of the Scriptures and reach conclusion after reading them along with the related verses as led by the Spirit (Isa.34:16) and carefully analyzing them. On the other hand, to cling to an opinion on the basis of a single verse is unwise. If a pilgrim who travels in the night keeps running to wherever he sees the light, he will never reach his intended destination. However if he walks along the road shown by the guide and also sees the light on the path, he will reach his destination without fail. In the same way, one should not be confused by coming to a conclusion on the basis of a single verse. If we walk according to the leading of the Spirit on the basis of Scriptures, we will walk without stumbling and reach perfection. Example: The Lord commanded Paul to go to the gentiles showing him "I have set you to be a light to the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth" (Acts 13:47).

Beloved! If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God (I Pet.4:11) (NKJV). When you hear the message given by the Holy Spirit being preached with Scriptural proofs, if you come to hasty conclusion with your limited knowledge and prematurely judge them wrong, you will be held guilty (Jude 10). If you were anointed by the Holy Spirit, the anointing would teach you to distinguish between the genuine persons and the frauds and whom you should listen to (I John 2:26,27). If He teaches, it would be according to the truth. If you do not have such experience of being taught by the Spirit, you still remain small children. Therefore try to grow up. On the contrary, don't be foolish by judging rashly. Our teachings are insane only to those destined to perish. It appears illogical only to the foolish. Become wise. Become truly wise!

"The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him" (I Cor.2:14).
