THE NEW JERUSALEM CHURCH

COME AND WORSHIP JESUS CHRIST

ANOINTING OF HOLY SPIRIT AND THE HOLY COMMUNION

Theophilus, after His resurrection, Jesus, through the Holy Spirit had commanded the apostles (Acts 1:1-3). He commanded the apostles alone and not all the people (Acts 10:40-42).

Two of those commandments are:

1) To carry out all my commandments, wait and receive the Holy Spirit which is the promise of the Father which you have heard from me (Acts 1:4-5,8). This is the power from on high. You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth (Lk 24:49; Acts 1:8)(NKJV).

2) Receiving Holy Spirit, administer (observe) the Holy Communion in remembrance of me (my death) till I come (I Cor 11:23-26).

The early church lost the leading of the Holy Spirit after 150 AD (after the departure of apostles). After 300 AD., the church came under human rule and began to backslide. Because of the entry of world into the church, various kinds of doctrines of other religions and rituals penetrated the church in a different form. And the church, instead of being a living and powerful way (Heb 10:20), was content with mere ritualistic rites, drew back, distanced itself and fell from faith. No apostle arose despite religious reformations in the sixteenth century. Though God revealed the hidden truths little by little through those who brought about religious reformations, the foundation (foundational doctrines) of the church could not be traced. In other words, God (Lord Jesus Christ) did not command anyone (to build the church).

Therefore human opinions and devilish doctrines have spread through false prophets (false teachers) and the foundational doctrines are in ruins (Acts 20:29-30; II Pet 2:1-3; I John 4:1). Lord commanded them to wait and receive the Holy Spirit in order to carry out and implement all His commandments. Likewise the apostles and the disciples accompanying them, waited for ten days and received the anointing of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:12-14, 2:1-4). Wherever they went, whenever they came across believers, they asked, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?". And finding that they had not received the Holy Spirit, prayed for them and laid their hands on them and initiated them (those believers) to receive the anointing of the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:14-17, 19:1-6). They baptized those who had already obtained Holy Spirit and gathered them as church (Acts 10:44-48). They found that obtaining the Holy Spirit just as the apostles is a sign that the Lord has acknowledged him or her as a member of the church (Acts 15:8-9). The witness thus borne by God was considered important by the apostles and early Christians.

Though reformation churches have appeared subsequent to religious reformations they are not comparable to the early church. They had begun to adopt the ceremonial rites of the fallen church. They believe that through the ceremony of confirmation, the Holy Spirit comes down on a soul. They know that this ceremony is a lie. In these churches, there are people who carried and received Holy Spirit subsequent to the ceremony of confirmation .

Some have begun to conduct special tarry-meetings to receive the Holy Spirit. This is an act contrary to their doctrines. They have started this to halt the exodus of people from their churches for obtaining Holy Spirit and immersion baptism. (It should be remembered that these congregations were once vehemently opposed to immersion baptism and anointing of the Holy Spirit).

However one thing is certain. They all know that the confirmatory statement of a Bishop 'Because I laid my hands on you (spreading hands over head) the Holy Spirit has come upon you' is a plain lie. (Examples are Roman pentecostal movement, Protestant movements). Therefore they are not able to expel those who act contrary to the doctrines of their church.

Few other groups say that the moment one becomes a believer he has obtained Holy Spirit and hence there is no need for tarrying. But they are not able to tell clearly, when is it that a person becomes a believer. Was it when he believed Lord Jesus Christ or when he was baptized? If one were to ask these people, 'When does a person obtain Holy Spirit (anointing of the New Testament era)? or When does one get saved?, they have no clear answer. Some other groups say that they baptize those who are already saved and also that baptism is just a doctrine and is not necessary for salvation.

However Bible says: "He who believes and is baptized will be saved" (Mk 16:16); and "unless one is born of water and the spirit, he can not enter the kingdom of God" (John 3:3,5) and that one should be baptized in order to obtain salvation for remission of sins (Acts 2:37-38) and further that baptism saves (I Pet 3:21).

Some churches giving importance to Spirit believe that when a person is baptized in water, he becomes a member of the visible church and he becomes a part of the invisible divine body of Jesus only when he is anointed by the Holy Spirit. Yet they allow those who had not yet become one with the body (of Christ) by the anointing of Holy Spirit, to partake of the Holy Communion which unifies the partaker with the body of Christ (I Cor 10:16). This is also wrong. A new testament believer is the one who has believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, obtained immersion baptism and received the anointing of Holy Spirit (with the signs of tongues and power). Not everybody who has obtained immersion baptism should partake or allowed to partake of the Holy Communion.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, commanded His disciples to observe the service of breaking of bread till He comes again, signifying His death, a sign of the new covenant and that His disciples may be united with Him, as a token of His second coming and as a testimony till He comes. On Thursday night (the night when the Lord was betrayed), not all those who had been baptized were invited for that feast of worship. (In those days, there were many who were baptized by John the Baptist as well as through Jesus Christ, that is , through His disciples). But He has established His new covenant only with His apostles and showed the example (Lk 22:14-20). Subsequent to His resurrection, the Lord was seen by His disciple for forty days and conversed with them. But the Holy Communion was not observed. After the Lord ascended to heaven, the apostles and disciples altogether numbering about a hundred and twenty, tarried for ten days with one accord in prayer and supplication and except that they were worshipping God, they were not observing the Holy Communion (Acts 1:12-14).

Holy communion is an ordinance of the new testament church. All are filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4). New testament church came into being (Acts 2:42,46). Therefore those who had not become one with the body of Christ through the Holy Spirit (I Cor 12:13), should not take part in the Holy Communion. Jesus commanded the apostles alone . The churches that are not established by apostles are not churches. These are mere associations, societies, missions, assemblies, groups and movements and not the church which is the holy body of the Lord.

Apostles who have received commandments from God alone can understand scriptures. Only through them the commandments of God will be followed correctly. God will work through them. Therefore the ministry done by those who are not anointed by the Holy Spirit is not true ministry and the Holy Communion administered by such people also is not the true Holy Communion.

It is wrong to partake of the Holy communion before anointed by Holy Spirit. This is not the pattern of the New Testament. One should be allowed to partake of the Holy Communion only after receiving immersion baptism and the Holy Spirit.

"See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain" (Heb 8:5)(NKJV).
