THE NEW JERUSALEM CHURCH

COME AND WORSHIP JESUS CHRIST

Come let us worship God

Worship:

Man is created with inherent character to worship God. Whether he is an uncultured tribal or a civilized city-dweller, he is conscious of worshipping God. When a man living in the forest sees a terrible shape bigger than himself like a huge animal, mountain, tree or a snake, he presumes divine power in them and worships them. If he comes to know the presence of a demon somewhere, he thinks of worshipping it to avoid probable mishap. Similarly he worships rivers and seas. People, who don't have knowledge about the true God, worship anything. In olden days, people used to worship statues of their kings assuming that they were divine incarnates.

Using this, satan spread the practice of idol-worship, by appearing in different shapes to many people in dreams and threatening them to worship his idol. Either man worships God or he worships things that are not divine or he worships his desires. The biggest of sin is idol-worship, in other words, to worship things other than God. We should worship God alone. The knowledge about our Creator is the primary knowledge which we must attain. The knowledge of Jesus Christ is the true knowledge.

God created man. When it is so, can man create God? Can his creations be God? (Jer.16:19,20). Many people make many gods for themselves. As a result of such acts, they become sinners and are trapped in various evils, vices, and violations. The world is filled with sin (Rom.1:18-32). "Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only" (Mat.4:10). People are conducting worship in other religions too. But they don't appear to worship the true God.

Worship in other religions:

Some worship those demons fearing them. They perform sacrifices and worship them, as they fear their evil works. To please their gods, some people sing invocations, bathe and clothe their idols and offer various offertories like coconut, fruit, food, liquor, fowls, goats etc., and engage prostitutes to dance before them. Some others perform witchcraft and sorcery invoking evil goddesses to harm others. Some others worship to attain wealth and fulfill their ambitions. Some people offer human sacrifices too to unearth treasures. This is relatively more in India. Still people claim that Hinduism is great. Great in sinning? In reality, it can be seen that their worship is not towards expiation of sins nor to reach heaven. They form new gods and demons are associated with them! (Deut. 32:16,17). Moreover people belonging to other religions worship several gods.

It is the duty of man to confirm whether they are gods or mere mortals. Let us assume that one has a son. If that son goes around calling every passerby as daddy, what shall he do? Shall he not tell him, 'You should address me alone as your daddy and not others'? Religions like Hinduism say that father is god, mother is god, son is god, daughter is god, uncle is god, aunt is god, servant is god and so on. Those gods say, 'worship him or worship her but give me my part'. Truly God is not there. Jesus said (Mat.4:10), 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God. The Lord is one. Love your Lord and worship Him only' (Deut.6:4,5,13; Ex.34:14). Therefore there is only one God. That is, for Jews and believers (I Tim.2:4; Rom.3:30). Hence Christianity alone is true. The path shown by the Holy Scriptures is the correct path. We should gather in the church and worship God. A worship should consist of songs, prayer, praise, testimony, Bible reading, preaching the word of God, listening to the word of God, offering, observing Holy Communion, prayer, final prayer and the benediction pronounced by the priest (pastor) rising from his seat and lifting up his hands.

We can worship God in four methods:

1. Individual prayer

2. Family prayer

3. Praying in small groups of two or three persons

4. Going to the church and worshipping Him as a testimony.

This is the plan of God. This is very important. These days many people neglect going to the church and worshipping God as congregation. This is wrong.

Grace descends on people when they go to the church and worship God and as the preacher preaches the word of God from the pulpit (Luke 4:20-22). While participating in the Holy Communion, and at the end of the service, as the priests (ministers of God) lift up their hands and pronounce the benediction in the name of God, blessing descends on them (Num.6:22-27). Some people remain at home viewing TV religious programs meant for old and handicapped people. The very next moment unholy noise will come. Are you worshipping before TV? Where are you giving your offerings? Are you taking part in the Holy Communion through your TV? Some people broadcast worshipping services through TV. That itself is wrong. One should experience the fellowship of Christians by going to the church and worshipping God as a testimony; One should do ministry for Christ and give testimony. Jesus did so (Luke 4:16-22). The early apostles and those of the church did so (Act 2:42,46,47; 20:7; Rom.16: 6; Col.4: 15,16; I Cor.16: 19; Phil.1: 2).

If you don't worship God, you may become immoral. Westerners spoil themselves as they fail to worship God truthfully. "I rejoiced with those who said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the Lord'" (Pss.122:1; 55:14; 42:4; Is.66:6). Worship God. Build churches and worship God (Hag.1:8; Joel 2:32; Rom.10:13,12). Worship God, Jesus, as the church (Heb.10:25).

Benefits:

When you worship God, He receives honor and glory due to Him. We receive blessing and are cured of curses. We can defeat our enemies. God fills those who worship Him with salvation, joy, power and peace. True worship will bring complete blessing. Come and worship God in New Jerusalem Church (Is.2:1-4). Amen!
